Airfare Assistance Fund
As troops are leaving Iraq, increasing numbers are being deployed to fight the Taliban menace headquartered in Afghanistan. That means that, inevitably, women and men from the greater Akron area will be “put in harm’s way.”
This also means that several military personnel will not be able to afford seeing family immediately before/after their patriotic service. The AIRFARE ASSISTANCE FUND, administered by New Covenant Community Church, at no cost to the recipients, is available to assist families during this difficult time. |

Dougbe River Presbyterian School of Liberia
Children in the rural Konobo district in Grand Gedeh County, Liberia, West Africa--near the border with Ivory Coast--have no access to schools. For a family to enable their child to receive a formal education, the child would have to leave the village and move to one of the cities to board with a relative. The Dougbe River School is a boarding school servicing 12 villages--each about a day’s walk from the campus. Our vision is for children to be educated near their own villages with the anticipation that they will use their skills to further develop the region. The goal is to contribute to building a stronger and more peaceful Liberia.

Mission to the USA
The Mission to the U.S.A. Program of the Synod of the Covenant is a short-term opportunity for churches to be on the receiving end. Individual congregations host a Christian leader from an ecumenical partner denomination for four to six weeks. The “mission partner” becomes a missionary to that congregation, serving on the staff as a parish associate. The goals of the Mission to the USA Program are to:
· Educate members of participating churches about another part of the world and the challenges facing Christians there, · Provide a fresh perspective on the gospel of Jesus Christ · Help U.S. Christians acquire a deepened understanding of the global nature of Christ’s church, · Challenge U.S. Christians to greater faithfulness our own country. |
