Mission Statement:

As youth and adults, we respond to God’s call through the Holy Spirit to be connected to each other, the church, and the world so that our lives proclaim with joy that Jesus Christ is Lord!
(Taken from PCUSA Youth Mission Statement)

Detail Description:

To reach out to all young people, black and white, rich and poor, and invite them to belong and participate fully in the community of faith.
Also providing opportunities for youth from different racial ethnic backgrounds to learn about each other while connecting to the whole church, community, and the world through mission.

Our History:

In 2008 The Youth Mission Team traveled to Iowa City to help out after the area experienced flooding. Seven teenage boys from Detroit signed up for what would be their first mission project. In 2009 six youth traveled to Houma, Louisiana to help out after several hurricanes had devasted this area. This was also the first trip for five of the youth. Many youth in Detroit and surrounding areas were not able to go on these trips due to various reasons (summer school, finances, fear of the unknown) so in 2010 The Presbytery of Detroit hosted it's first Youth Mission Blast. Youth groups came in from Indiana, Ohio and Minnesota to worship, fellowship, learn about the history of Detroit and do mission work! This provided an opportunity for many youth in the Presbytery of Detroit to work with youth from all over. There was a sense of bringing "Hope" back to a city that has experienced its share of heartbreak. And youth from all over joined together to make this happen!
The Youth Mission Team plans on continuing the Youth Mission Blast in Detroit each summer as well as travel out of state to do mission work.
