The Second Mile Center

Located in Detroit, Michigan. Services provided are free which include a weekly community meal, after school programs with dinner,worship and praise, sign mime praise team, stepping team, dance, arts and crafts, maintain computer lab, provide homework assistance, conduct summer programs with lunch, camps, missions and field trips, distribute health and hygiene kits, school supplies and bags, maintain a pantry for food emergencies as well as food baskets for holidays, clothes closet and facilitate donations of furniture. Annual health fair. Refer to other agencies for assistance with housing, energy, HIV/Aids and domestic violence.The purpose is to provide services and develop partnerships to empower and strengthen people through charitable and educational means without discrimination based on race, color, or national or ethnic origin.

Open since 2007 under the auspices of the Presbyterian Women in Detroit.
Recipient of Keep Michigan Beautiful Award for the outside of the building.
Executive Director, Ruth Azar, awarded by the Detroit Black Pages, March, 2007, as "Distinguished Women of Color" making a difference in our community...
